Redevelopment is under way at Golfe-Juan’s Old Port on the French Riviera, with two building seasons planned through 2028. The official project launch took place on 10 October, but some works and restrictions began in September. Buyers of nearby homes should compare the phases with their own stays, walking routes and parking needs.
When are the works at Golfe-Juan Old Port in France planned?
Golfe-Juan Old Port has two announced work periods: October 2026–May 2027 and October 2027–May 2028, with handover planned for spring–summer 2028. This is a project timetable, not a guarantee of completion before a particular visit.
The Riviera Chamber of Commerce announcement of 12 October says the programme has been reduced from three building seasons to two. It covers quays Tabarly, Saint-Pierre and Napoléon, and the south breakwater. This is the Vieux-Port, or Old Port, not a redevelopment of the whole neighbouring Camille Rayon marina.
| Announced period | Main activity |
|---|---|
| October 2026–May 2027 | First-stage structures and utility networks |
| October 2027–May 2028 | Second stage, public spaces and finishing works |
| Spring–summer 2028 | Planned project handover |
The project includes widening quay Tabarly towards the water and renewing public spaces. The proposed environment should not be mistaken for what is already finished.
The dates describe different milestones. The port’s October bulletin places the start of works and Tabarly restrictions on 21 September; the Chamber records a works commencement order dated 28 September and the official launch on 10 October. Summer use of the port informs the two-season organisation, but these sources establish neither exact pause dates nor an absence of all summer disruption.
How should you check home and parking access in Golfe-Juan?
Port restrictions in Golfe-Juan do not establish that a nearby building entrance or private garage is closed. For a chosen apartment, check the route from the road and drop-off point to its door and garage for your dates, separately from access to the pontoons.
The October port bulletin, page 8, says access to pontoons is maintained through temporary, adjustable routes, with possible short interruptions. The port cannot guarantee parking. Alternatives named are Soleil at 16 avenue de Belgique and the municipal Vieux-Port car park; availability and terms require separate confirmation. Loading remains possible in accessible areas. Two-wheeled vehicle access and parking are prohibited on quay Tabarly.
These are port-site arrangements, not an access plan for the entire neighbourhood. Before a viewing:
- ask the building manager for the latest notices and access plan, and check changes with the port operator or municipality;
- walk to the entrance and garage, checking taxi drop-off, luggage, deliveries and limited-mobility access;
- establish which windows and terrace face the work area; a quiet weekend does not show working-day conditions.
If you have found an apartment, discuss address-specific checks with IMMO BTC: send the listing link, intended stay dates and whether you need a garage. We can help identify information to request before a viewing; this is not a technical assessment or a guarantee of unchanged access.
How should the Old Port redevelopment affect buying and using a home in Golfe-Juan?
For a home near Golfe-Juan Old Port, compare both work seasons with your stays, maintenance and any intended letting. Budget for additional costs using specific terms; redevelopment alone proves neither a future price rise nor entitlement to a discount.
Items to check include alternative parking, delivery arrangements, changes to private refurbishment dates and maintenance while abroad. Need and cost depend on the address: the reviewed sources provide no general homeowner budget. Exact noisy-work hours and a daily diversion map have not been established either.
Obtain answers on conditions important to you before taking on purchase commitments. If you intend to let, check permission and the access information guests will need separately; a construction timetable establishes neither lawful letting nor future occupancy. Agree who will receive new notices while you are away.
What to check next
Once the work phases are clear, the next question is whether the address suits your everyday routine. Our guide to choosing a Riviera town and address helps compare routes, parking, seasonality and costs for two properties on the same basis.
